"The History of Finding Pleasure in Books"

A life-long love of reading begins when children bond with another person who reads to them. Children are entertained with the pictures and the tone and inflection of spoken words, which they cannot yet understand.

There's something magical about children learning to read. They discover new worlds and awaken their imagination. As a child grows, reading's purpose grows. The child discovers that books not only entertain, but also educate and inform. The magic is still real.

During adolescence, reading can spur thoughts, challenge ideas and beliefs, and encourage critical thinking, yet reading must maintain the magic. When a person stops reading for pleasure, reading may cause displeasure.

Our hope is that as people reach adulthood, not only do they continue to reach for a book, but that the magic of reading is kept alive. You experience this magic every time you can't put a book down, when you bargain with yourself to read one more chapter, one more page, one more sentence, when the characters and the story stay with you for days or weeks or even years after the cover has closed. That is what it means to find pleasure in books.

Here at Adamo Press, we love a good story. Why not browse our selection of books? We look forward to connecting you with your next book!
